Hi, I’m Corbett
I’m a software engineer and data science graduate student based in Phoenix, AZ, with a background that spans anthropology, education, humanitarian work, and tech. I first got hooked on coding when I discovered Angelfire, building absurd, colorful websites and running statistical simulations on my TI-83 calculator.
I’ve worked extensively with Python and SQL, Ruby, Rails, PostgreSQL, and JavaScript. I’ve contributed to projects involving ETL pipelines, REST APIs, and browser-based automation with Cypress. I’m expanding my skills in data visualization, scientific computing, and biological data analysis using Python tools like Pandas, Matplotlib, and Jupyter.

Currently, I’m earning a graduate certificate in biological data science at ASU to deepen my skills in Python, data analysis, and scientific computing. My goal is to join a team working at the intersection of software and science—ideally in health, climate, or open research—where I can build, learn, and contribute to work that matters.
Professionally, I’ve worked as a full-stack developer, test automation engineer, and SQL bug-hunter across sectors like food tech, healthcare, and sustainability. I’ve worked at startups and mission-driven SaaS companies, building everything from carbon tracking tools to accessibility-focused call center scripts. I’m most energized when I get to build features from scratch, mentor teammates, and create tools that solve real-world problems.
Aside from my technical skills, I pride myself on being a friendly, outgoing, sociable person. When I was a teacher, I was always making plans with my co-workers to go out for happy hour, yoga, and concerts. I make it a point to welcome newcomers, and help them learn the ropes. While I was at my last startup, I provided a listening ear for the junior developer on my team; she’d just graduated from a bootcamp, and while she was technically proficient, she was struggling with all the ancillary skills that a technical coding job requires. I was able to help out when she asked, or just be a supportive co-worker.
In my free time, I like to stay active. I climb regularly at my local bouldering gym, and I was really excited to go ice climbing for the first time. I do a lot of marathon training, and last year I ran in the Man Against Horse Race in Prescott. It’s exactly what it sounds like: people on foot racing long-distance horses and their riders. I also organized a trivia team that regularly places in the top 10.
